Each plan we offer shows a speed, measured in Mbps (Megabits per second). This measurement is the standard used for measuring throughput, or how much data can be moved in a given period of time.
We offer tiered usage plans that, depending upon where you live, can offer speeds up to 1000 Mbps (1 Gbps).
When your plan's description says it comes with "Speeds up to 30 Mbps," it is important to know that usage is per account, not per device. This means if you have 1 actively connected device on your account, it will be allocated speeds up to 30 Mbps. However, if you have 6 devices actively connected on your account, all trying to use the internet at the same time, it's likely each device may only be allocated up to 5 Mbps (30 Mbps divided by 6 devices).
To help you better understand how these speeds will affect your browsing habits, here are our recommended speeds for different types of activities:
1-10 Mbps
- Very light web browsing
- Checking email
- Instant messaging
11-20 Mbps
- Basic web browsing
- Basic video streaming
20-40 Mbps
- Large file downloads
- HD Video streaming
- Multiple devices connected to the same account simultaneously
50+ Mbps
- Very large file downloads
- HD Video streaming
- Multiplayer gaming
- Multiple devices connected to the same account simultaneously
It is also important to note that on any network, wireless speeds cannot be guaranteed., Factors such as distance, interference and too many devices trying to connect will cause speeds to fluctuate and in some cases diminish WiFi coverage entirely.
